Classic Country Lead: Electric Guitar Level 2
Level 2: Intermediate
This workshop will focus on the key elements needed to begin playing classic country lead guitar. While a Telecaster is the traditional choice for this style, it is not mandatory. The techniques learned here will translate easily and widen the scope for blues and rock players as well. We will explore chording, scales, low string twang, chicken picking, double stops and of course pedal steel type string bending. This course will also include some historical discussion on the early masters of this style, as well as the gear best suited for getting that HOT COUNTRY SOUND. It is expected that participants will have some facility with Guitar but are new to this genre of playing.
AnchorAbout Chris Turner
Chris Turner is a New Jersey native with the guitar-pickin' soul of a country boy. Early on, he was influenced by the sounds of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens and rockabilly strains of Elvis Presley, Rick Nelson and the ground breaking country rock of the Clarence White era. Chris began playing guitar in his early teens and quickly developed a love for country music and the Fender Telecaster. Over the past twenty years he has been an integral part of the Tri-state area's country/roots music scene, playing lead guitar for such veteran groups as Amarillo, the Cadillac Cowboys, Dakota and the NJ Grand Opry. He currently performs extensively with his own group, while also keeping busy with teaching and session work.
